LinkShare Patents Affiliate Programs

NMerriam wrote to us with yet another reason why the US Patent Office should be given a stern talking to. Apparently they have granted LinkShare the patent on affiliate programs. My question is: Where were Amazon's lawyers? Between this and one click shopping it just seems a natural fit. Sorry - my sarcasm level is set a bit high today.
