"Iran's state-run broadcaster was apparently hacked on air Saturday," reports the BBC, "with a news bulletin interrupted by a protest against the country's leader."
While such incidents are "historically rare," they add that more recently,this incident follows "widespread open dissent" It comes after at least three people were shot dead when protesters clashed with security forces in new unrest over the death of Mahsa Amini. s Amini was detained in Tehran by morality police for allegedly not covering her hair properly. The 22-year-old Iranian Kurd died in custody on 16 September, three days after her arrest. Her death has sparked an unprecedented wave of protest across the country.
Saturday's TV news bulletin at 21:00 (17:30 GMT) was interrupted with images which included Iran's supreme leader with a target on his head, photos of Ms Amini and three other women killed in recent protests. e of the captions read "join us and rise up", whilst another said "our youths' blood is dripping off your paws".

It really isn't. The Nazis were dealt with using tanks and armies and bombers and great fuck-off battleships. The resistance movements were ineffectual except in terms of morale (and even that is questionable).

There is a tectonic shift under way in the US, and hopefully the world -- but it has nothing to do with religion. The shift has to do with parents finally lining up against a few industries that prey on children -- confused, easy-to-manipulate children. Those industries are now very scared. As they should be.
But of course, the people who make money hand over fist from those industries are now scared shitless and will say anything, do anything, to stave off the inevitable tsunami of backlash coming their way. Sure, some religious nutjobs may be involved in this - but I guarantee you the bulk of those alinged against these social, racial and gender "justice" businesses -- and that's what they are -- businesses -- are just rank and file people. Not exactly the same thing, but The Dictator's Handbook [wikipedia.org] explains very well what holds a dictatorship together - and therefore what can force a transition to democracy (in addition to putting some definitions on what a dictatorship and a democracy should be). It reminded me a lot of the "oblique interpretation" of Machiavelli, i.e. the idea he wrote The Prince as an exposé rather than a manual.
