Big Brother Awards In .at-land 1

An AC (appropriate) sends news of Austrian Big Brother awards: "Now for the second time around, the BigBrother Awards in .at. Nominees include amazon.at, American Express and some favourites of (ultra-) conservative politicians, all for violating privacy in a rather explicit manner. (Sorry, German only, try fishing it.) The list of nominees is here, my personal favourite is amazon, where you can read the privacy statement only _after_ youve agreed to it. Other countries with similar events can be found here."

  • It looks to me like you can read the privacy policy without agreeing to it: See http://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/subst/help/datapr otection.html [amazon.de]. It's linked to at the bottom of the front page.

Not that I read German, or anything, I'm just guessing that the "Privatsphäre und Datenschutz" is a privacy policy, and that when they have a section like "Was sind 'Cookies'?", they're not talking about receipe swapping.

The /. crew didn't have something to do with these awards, did they? Seems like the folks giving them out didn't even look at the sites...;)
