DeviceGuru writes: With desktop Linux distributions puffing up with compositing window managers that assume vast resources such terrabyte drives and multi-GHz, multi-core CPUs, and 3D-accelerated graphics engines, it's refreshing to see that a few Linux distros continue to address the resource constrained requirements of netbooks and older hardware. A review at LinuxTrends looks at one newcomer, Peppermint Ice, which keeps its footprint down by using the LXDE light-weight desktop environment along with chromium-based site-specific-browser implements of web-based applications, giving it a 'cloud OS' flavor.
