Mike_EE_U_of_I writes: Remember that school that was taking pictures of the students at home with the school provided laptops? Well, things just got pretty amazing. The school originally stated that this had only happened 42 times. It turns out what they meant was that there were 42 instances when they began intensive surveillance on the suspected stolen computers. This consisted of (among other things) transmitting a picture from the laptop's webcam every 15 minutes. This may have gone on for weeks! Read more about it here http://citypaper.net/blogs/clog/2010/04/15/webcam-gate-now-with-pictures/. In total, it appears that there very well may be thousands of photos.
Perhaps not so amazing, one of the key administrators involved has been answering all questions about the program by invoking the fifth amendment (http://www.philly.com/dailynews/local/20100410_Key_figure_in__Webcamgate__invokes_Fifth.html)
"The eleventh commandment was `Thou Shalt Compute' or `Thou Shalt Not
Compute' -- I forget which."
