Cisco and Apple Reach iPhone Agreement

Posted by Zonk on Friday February 23, @08:37AM
from the peace-reigns-supreme dept.
Rob writes "Cisco Systems and Apple have reached an agreement on the iPhone brand name. Their deal includes an agreement to 'explore opportunities for interoperability in the areas of security, and consumer and enterprise communications'. The settlement is an obvious win for Apple, which has been looking forward to using its iPod brand to sell its smartphone-style gadget. Cisco has to be pleased as well, as a potentially ugly lawsuit has been avoided. They also get the win of associating their distinctly less sexy devices with what may turn out to be a successful Apple branding campaign."

The register had this story yesterday with this interesting snippet: ... it seems Cisco has dropped its claim in exchange for promises of working with Apple towards interoperability in other areas, the details of which have not been made public.

MS lose a lawsuit against Alcatel-Lucent for almost $2B.
Apple settle their argument over the iPhone title with Cisco.

How am I supposed to hold a stiff upper lip in front of my pro-Apple friends this weekend?

Next they will be telling me Vista sucks.

    Oh, wait a minute....
