+ - Ask Slashdot: Using encryption in everday life

Submitted by Anonymous Coward
An anonymous reader writes "With the PRISM and other NSA spying revelations there have been many recommendations to begin using encryption wherever possible. The problem is, apart from plugging HTTPS Everywhere into my browser, I have no idea how to go about using encryption in my daily life and work. How does one email/text/call friends and coworkers who are even less computer literate than I am? How do you hide what webpages you are visiting? Is it realistic to use encryption if nobody you communicate with understands it?"
