Velcroman1 (1667895) writes "Robert Westmore of Southern California designs websites for a living — but he was shocked to learn that he had designed a new homepage for the reclusive North Korean regime. “I had no idea,” he said in an interview. “Honestly, I didn't even know North Korea had a website.” While the notorious totalitarian government continues to spend hundreds of millions on failed rocket launches, North Korea skimps in other areas, notably web design. Indeed the country spent just $15 redesigning its national homepage, korea-dpr.com — a fact accidentally discovered by an unsuspecting college student. Westmore was surprised, but okay with it in the end. “As a web designer I'm always happy to see my work getting utilized,” said Westmore, who spent several months of development on the theme. “Especially when it's on a high-profile website.”"

I designed North Korea's new website -- by accident

  • And a bad summary. So North Korea buys a template for it's web site. Somebody else looks at the HTML and can see what template it is. Template designer is "shocked!" when he merely said he had no idea. That North Korea will pay a North Korean rice for a year to throw a web page together with info for the western world to read at all should be the only story.
