mewshi_nya writes "A firm run by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen filed suit alleging 11 technology companies are violating patents developed at a Silicon Valley lab that Allen financed more than a decade ago. Named in a lawsuit: Apple, Google, AOL, eBay, Facebook, Netflix, Office Depot, OfficeMax, Staples, Yahoo and Google's YouTube subsidiary. The suit doesn't name Microsoft, Amazon.com or other tech companies in Seattle where Allen is based. The suit doesn't estimate a damage amount.

The suit lists violations of four patents for technology that appear to be key components of the operations of the companies — and that of e-commerce and Internet search companies in general."

  • He is a billionaire. He has made his money and suing for patent issues does not strike me as a guru, If he was a guru, he would have submitted the patents in the first place and or tradmarks and copyrights. As for the Wall Street Journal reporting Mr. Allen, a pioneer of computer software, didn't develop any of the technology himself but owns the patents. That is a contradiction in itself. It will never stand up in court. I say good luck to him and he might work for the RIAA :p
