Submission + - Performance improvements in JDBC module published (

stacey7165 writes: Filip Hanik, one of the well known committers for the Apache Tomcat project, has published preliminary tests of a new high concurrency alternative to connection pooling called jdbc-pool. Hanik published an article earlier on his development efforts, citing that the independent module has been tested working with Tomcat 6, and may be considered for Tomcat 7 if the committers feel that the module is viable. Today, Hanik published a series of performance numbers to help understand the performance improvements by directly comparing jdbc-pool, DBCP and C3P0 against each other. The performance study illustrates promise for the new module showing that it scales linearly, outperforms DBCP when validation is turned on, and establishes very consistent wait times when dealing with lock fairness with requests under contention.
